Happy New Year, two years later... Life has been very busy with work, COVID, and managing home and finances. I hope that you are well and stay healthy during these times. Hopefully, the end is in sight for this pandemic!
I see no real benefit of keeping a paid .com for this site, so I will be removing the JetSquid branding within a month and just keep this site up here at:
https://hauntedadventuretrilogy.weebly.com/
AtariAge has done a wonderful job promoting and selling the Haunted Adventure Trilogy. Hopeflly it will remain on sale there for a long time.
I acquired an Atari VCS 800 from indiegogo and am messing around with it. It has some potential; I picked it up out of curiosity in 2018 and it was finally delivered this week.
Maybe one day I'll get back into programming on the VCS but right now I have other priorities that I have to deal with in life. If anything Haunted Adventurous comes up, I'll post news here and/or at AtariAge.
Cheers, take care & stay healthy!

With a week to go 'til Halloween this year, I decided to dust off the old Stella emulator (sorry, my 2600's are packed away in boxes right now) and make a YouTube video of some Haunted Adventure Trilogy game play, doing a little shameless self-promo: https://www.youtube....h?v=MdGmGpoIKWQ
There's a little reminiscing about the past in my rambles; if you have time, hope it entertains...
Earlier on August 18, Bradley Higgins found the Ultimate Easter Egg! Congrats Bradley!

I finally got a hold of a preproduction Atari Flashback Portable by AtGames (the one with Space Invaders and Taito licenses) and found out to my pleasant surprise that the Haunted Adventure Trilogy rom works with it via SD card! It starts at Game 7 instead of Game 1, and Game 7 has some minor screen resizing not occurring on real 2600 hardware. I'm not playing around with the code since #1 it's been a while since I've messed with it and #2 it works fine in most cases with the new portable.

Welcome to the newly designed website. This is a work in progress for now. I'm switching ISP's and I'm playing around with the formatting. I've found www.weebly.com to greatly serve my needs for now. Note that some links in the news section may be broken until I have time to edit everything...
It only took me over half a year to notice that HAT was featured in the Review of the Week by TrekMD in the Retro Video Gamer site at http://www.retrovideogamer.co.uk/index.php?topic=4851.0
Thanks to TrekMD and Retro Video Gamer for the positive review!
I've added a historical section where I hope to chronicle (=recall) the making of HAT before my brain starts forgetting everything. Hopefully I'll post new (well, at least new to this site) photos and other interesting info in the future. There is also an ordering page that is supposed to go directly to the HAT AtariAge Store Page.

Happy Belated Earth Day & Everything Else - it's been quite awhile...
First of all, a big thanks for AtariAge for continuing to produce and sell the Trilogy. With everything going on in my life, I don't have the time to custom make the Trilogy as I used to. I still hang around the Atari Age forums on occasion, but I think my inbox is completely full so it's better to fire off an email if you wish to contact me. My apologies for not responding to some of your e-mails. Some people have been requesting roms from the custom Trilogies that I made awhile back. I still have those special edition individual roms somewhere. They survived a hard drive crash I had last year. I'm just looking for the old ordering and contact info. I also kept alluding to a big surprise coming up that never materialized - I'll just say sorry about that and leave it for now.
Also, thank you to Liduario for testing the Trilogy on the Intellivision System Charger. I have updated the compatibility section.
2011-10-12
Haunted Adventure Trilogy available at the AtariAge Store! and site update.
Actually, it's been available at the AtariAge Store for over a year to everyone, but you get a 5% discount if you are an AtariAge subscriber! Just in time for Halloween!
Links have been placed at the top of the page since some people may not even be aware of their existence, especially mobile users.
The contest is on hiatus since I'm extremely busy at the moment with REAL LIFE(tm).
The boxed edition is no longer available, but the regular edition is available at the AtariAge Store (just in case you missed the previous two links).
The site will be down sometime next weekend; I'm planning to change servers. The changeover was actually quite smooth.
Added links for Atari 2600 emulators.

Haunted Adventure Trilogy available to AtariAge subscribers!
The major announcement is finally here! ☺ Haunted Adventure Trilogy is now available to AtariAge subscribers. Thanks to Albert Yarusso at AtariAge for making this possible! To become a subscriber at AtariAge or for more information click here.
If you live in the USA, I highly recommend getting Haunted Adventure Trilogy from AtariAge, as production and shipping costs are cheaper for them. It will soon be available to the general public at AtariAge.

And at the end of fear... oblivion.
Well, the major announcement never happened (yet) - how embarrassing! Apologies for not being in control of HAT's destiny. REAL LIFE(TM) has been very busy and I haven't had much time with the VCS lately. I'm still around, though... Cheers!

Illness and work Part 2
I have never caught so many colds/flus and been in bed so much. I missed a week of work and just got back on my feet yesterday. Needless to say, I will be working on orders. Thank you for all your patience. Also, the PCB's have arrived, so there are no more excuses. Hopefully I will have the next batch out by this weekend.
A major announcement is coming soon! ☺

Illness and work
My apologies for the delay and thanks for your patience. I was sick in bed for a week and then I had to do reports when I got back to work, which I just finished today. Sorry about the excuses as I'm usually faster than this. I am also waiting for the shipment of PCB's to arrive, which should be in a week's time...
2009-02-25
Resupplying and refreshing...
I have currently run out of PCB's, so those of you waiting for your orders please I patient as I receive new supplies. Also, sorry for extra delays, but I'm currently very sick and have been stuck in bed fighting a nasty cold/virus. When I'm refreshed, I will finish off your orders (045+).

HAT review from 2600 Connection Newsletter posted...
I have received permission from Al Backiel, editor of the 2600 Connection newsletter, the post his review of Haunted Adventure Trilogy. Read it in the new Reviews section!

HAT featured in the 2600 Connection Newsletter...
Al Backiel, the author of the 2600 Connection, a printed newsletter for fans and collectors of the Atari 2600 Videogame Computer System (if you are an Atari fan you probably already knew that), has published an article about the Haunted Adventure Trilogy in the current issue of the paper (#90 Nov/Dec 2007). Although not the first article about HAT, it is the first one in English, AFAIK. For more info, visit the 2600 Connection website. The links will be good for HAT until Al publishes the next issue.

Fixed some minor problems with strange characters showing up on the main page in Linux using Firefox.
I am also working to get a certain order out by this weekend.

End of break...
I will continue to work on orders starting August 26th.
2007-08-15
Taking a break...
I've been off for a while working hard during the summer and then trying to take a break = vacation; my apologies to those of you inquiring about HAT. I will post via e-mail the information to you soon...

Emulator updates
The Trilogy now works with M.E.S.S., as of version 0.117 (earlier versions may work, but I haven't tested them). I have also successfully tested HAT using Linux Mint, a derivative of Debian Ubuntu, with the Stella 2.3.5 emulator. Now I just need to play with Linux text editors and compilers, and then I can get away from my Windoze dependencies.
2006-12-25
Merry Christmas!!!
I've posted the Haunted Adventure Trilogy Ultimate Easter Egg Contest at AtariAge. Details and rules are also available here.

Found the 7800 compatibility problem!
I found out what the problem is with the later 7800 model compatibility issues, I believe. Most of the time the 32k EPROM used for the HAT binary would work perfectly with the socketed test PCB in the 7800 in question.
On three occasions I discovered that if I used a tiny bit too much solder on the board, the completed assembly would not work in my later model 7800; it would give me a horrible buzzing sound and a very garbled graphic similar to a binary with a jam instruction error. The cart assembly would still work perfectly on any 2600 and my newly acquired first run 7800 with expansion port.
I think this occurs on the later 7800 models because of the extra timing circuit on the later models and shoddy workmanship on those 7800's and my soldering. On the three occasions, I have noticed and fixed the problem, either by removing excess solder, removing the chip altogether in an attempt to recover the PCB, or trashing everything in a worst case scenario and start from scratch (all three scenarios have occurred). I most likely missed the problem with diggs130's cart assembly. Sometimes I have problems with graphics using certain EPROM’s, but that is an entirely different issue...
Moral of the story - learn to solder properly because crappy later model 7800's are very finicky.
2006-11-28
Completed Atari 2600/7800 and clone compatibility testing. Results are here.
2006-11-18
The deadline for Christmas pre-orders is November 23rd (US Thanksgiving). Orders received after that date cannot be guaranteed to arrive in time for Christmas.
2006-11-14
Working on wave 5 of the shipping! ☺If you want the HAT for Christmas, contact me soon as production deadlines for the holidays will be sometime next week.
After further testing and research, it appears HAT works on most Atari 7800 ProSystems. It will only fail to work on 7800 models with the inserted timing chip. See http://www.atariage.com/7800/faq/index.html?SystemID=7800#cat3_3 for more information regarding this issue.
2006-10-22
HAT works with the 7800 ProSystem that comes with the expansion slot. For some reason it doesn't with other 7800's. I suspect that my method of F4 bankswitching is not compatible with the other 7800 models, but I can't test since I don't own one. Not all TIA chipsets are created equal.
2006-10-18
HAT Now Shipping...
The first shipment of HAT has gone out and should be arriving to customers who ordered in early October. PAL50 and PAL60 binaries have been tested on real hardware. I am currently working on the second shipment. See the production schedule for details. The slight delays in production have been caused by me recycling 32k PCB's, successfully rescuing them from faulty EPROMs. Oh yeah, REAL LIFE(TM) also takes up my time as well, but everything will ship as promised.
2006-09-29
HAT RELEASED!!!

Final RC testing...
Added new difficulty settings that caused screen rolls. However, I was able to fix this by unrolling JSR's - used up bytes but saved the necessary cycles. Code has been frozen and final testing is being done.
Stay tuned for release news...☺

Not quite yet...
The colours are too dark. When designing the game, I was testing with the PICTURE control on the TV set all the way to the right. I am making changes so that you don't have to adjust your TV in order to play the game. My new REAL LIFE(tm) job, home renovations, and family life are also factors.
However, HAT is almost done.
2006-08-21
ALMOST DONE!
I have finished redesigning the artwork for the manual, box, and cartridge label and have completed the re-write for the new manual. The game is 99% complete and hopefully will begin beta testing soon, so I will contact those who have offered to beta test. I have added more to the original games to hopefully create a new experience as well as completed a new third adventure. I will try to post new screen shots in the near future. More details will follow later as REAL LIFE(tm) is very hectic right now.
2006-06-02
REAL LIFE(tm) has had an effect on this project, but things have progressed. I am almost finished redesigning Haunted Adventure I the give it a unique look for the Trilogy release. I am also redesigning the creatures; they will all be recognizable but have a different look and more animations. After I finish this I will tweak the forest maze in Haunted Adventure II, and then go over the general game play for Haunted Adventure III. I am still hoping for a summer release, although it won't be June 21st, since I have interviews and reports to worry about right now...
2006-01-31
Tweaked creature movements and added new effects, including intro and end game sounds to game 3 level 7. Also added elements to other levels to connect the story-line in all three games.
I am planning to work on various aspects of artwork next.
2005-12-30
Happy New Year (and a belated Merry Christmas!)
The prototype works on both the Atari 7800 ProSystem and the 2600 Video Computer System. ☺
The manual is in colour and weighs in at 52 pages. A prototype box design has been completed. I am planning to change the box style to include more artwork and less text. The Fuji symbol will be removed for obvious reasons.
More changes and tweaks will be made and I am currently on schedule for a tentative Summer 2006 release.
2005-11-22
The official wait list grows...
PAL Code has been finalized and Haunted Adventure III play fields are completed for the prototype version. I have made some changes to the Haunted Adventure I play fields as well. I am testing the prototype on a 2600 and 7800 to make sure features work on both consoles.
An outline for a new manual is being worked on, and writing the story-line and game features for Haunted Adventure III is progressing. A new box design and label is in development as well.
2005-10-10
I am now maintaining a wait list for those interested in a limited edition cart and manual release. If I receive enough interest, I will consider a larger production run with a boxed edition.
I know everyone loves to try out the latest binary releases, but due to my contractual obligations to Atari, I currently cannot release them. You can try out the last WIP demos of Haunted Adventure I and II posted in the AtariAge forums.
I have revised the PAL code and am currently working on play fields for Haunted Adventure III (working title).
2005-09-24
The Haunted Adventure Trilogy (working title) is the complete Haunted Adventure Story in three parts. To keep fans happy and make it a worthy addition to anyone's 2600 library, I am re-working the rooms and code for game 1 and doing a revision to graphics and some rooms/mazes for game 2. All I can say about game 3 for now is that will be a familiar yet new addition, if I can overcome one major hurdle to allow me to include it. 90% of the code is working the way I want it to right now, so it's mostly play field and graphics design that will take up a majority of the time, plus I do my own post production like manual, label, and box design. I have other features that I'm not ready to reveal yet, but will in due time.
2005-09-08
The Atari 2600 Video Computer System Haunted Adventure Trilogy (working title) is currently being developed. It will be a major update from the previous Haunted Adventure Special Edition Pak. As a result, the Haunted Adventure Special Edition is no longer available. Stay tuned for updates...
Cheers,
atwwong ☺

PAL Code has been finalized and Haunted Adventure III play fields are completed for the prototype version. I have made some changes to the Haunted Adventure I play fields as well. I am testing the prototype on a 2600 and 7800 to make sure features work on both consoles.
An outline for a new manual is being worked on, and writing the story-line and game features for Haunted Adventure III is progressing. A new box design and label is in development as well.

The Atari 2600 Video Computer System Haunted Adventure Trilogy (working title) is currently being developed. It will be a major update from the previous Haunted Adventure Special Edition Pak. As a result, the Haunted Adventure Special Edition is no longer available. Stay tuned for updates...
